Senior Ecologist – BNG Specialist
UK-based (Remote) | Head Office: Chester | Full-time, Permanent
Are you an experienced ecologist passionate about delivering high-quality Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) services? Looking for a role where you can work remotely while helping shape the future of nature-positive development?
My client is expanding their team and looking for a Senior Ecologist with a strong background in BNG to lead projects, support junior colleagues, and contribute to the continued success of our growing consultancy.
Responsibilities
· Leading the delivery of BNG assessments, surveys, management plans, and supporting documentation across a wide range of client projects.
· Supporting the training and quality assurance of junior ecologists’ BNG outputs.
· Keeping pace with evolving best practices, UK Habs classifications, and legislative frameworks around UK habitats and species.
· Producing high-quality ecological reports, including EPS licensing, HRA, and Environmental Statement (ES) chapters.
· Staying at the forefront of biodiversity policy and contributing to the continuous development of our BNG service offering.
Requirements
· At least 5 years’ experience in ecological assessments and reporting for UK habitats and protected species.
· Proven experience delivering BNG services and a thorough understanding of BNG legislation and implementation.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong organisational ability and impeccable attention to detail.
· A collaborative mindset and a passion for mentoring junior team members.
Bonus points for:
· Membership of CIEEM or RSB (and working towards chartership).
· Meeting CIEEM’s “Accomplished” criteria for Surveying.
· FISC Level 4 or above.
