Our Story
Established in 2000, we are leaders in sustainability and social inclusion. Our mission is to inspire, challenge and facilitate businesses to bring about a sustainable, low carbon economy and more inclusive society where everyone thrives.

Environmental: capturing the company’s approach to responsibly managing its total environmental footprint across its operations and supply chain.
Social: capturing the company’s approach to engaging with and addressing the needs of key social stakeholders including local communities, colleagues, suppliers, representative bodies and greater society.
Governance: assessing the structures that provide the foundations for economic, environmental and social pillars through purpose, governing body oversight, stakeholder engagement and decision-making structures.
Our theory of change is to work individually and collectively with members to drive, initiate and collaborate to embed sustainability across all aspects of their business. Over the last 25 years, BITCI has seen the desire by businesses to become sustainable grow exponentially. The visible effects of the climate and nature crises together with diverse social issues is driving businesses to respond to the demands of investors, staff, customers and governments. By making this shift and adopting a holistic approach to sustainability with clear ambitions and targets to address a business’s carbon footprint and social footprint such as inclusivity and fair labour practices is becoming a business imperative.
